Simple and Effective

Easy to use. Elegant. Organized. A tool that effectively saves time.

Is OK, but overprized. Check Trial on dev website.

This application is OK for private use, but overprized. 40 EUR is way to much for something as basic as a TO DO, especially that you have to buy the iPhone/iPad version seperately to make it worth. Note that you can get a trial version from the developer website. Dont just buy in the App Store, consult the developers website! Things Cloud (which is not iCloud) makes Things worthless for business users. Although it is using SSL for syncing (which app doesnt?), it does not ensure your data is encrypt (with your key). This is a deal breaker for me. Ill just use OS X Reminders for private stuff for now.. and something else for business (pen and paper and a freaking whiteboard?)

They killed Wifi-Sync without giving it as an option.

I was stupid enough not to check the "whats new" bit before updating. Now I realize that they just killed the wifi-sync, instead of giving the option to chose between wifi and cloud. I tried to downgrade, but Things 1.5.6 wont even open. Thats too much money wasted on something that wont work. And I know for sure that the money doesnt go into the customer support. More than a week ago that I sent an email. No reply yet...

Still no undo?

Today 2.2 came out, i was hoping the most urgent bug would be fixed: Undo doesnt work. And it still doesnt. Cmon guys, 40 bugs fixed, but THIS one not? If I delete something by accident, theres no undo… a bit ridiculous in the year 2013.

Ok, but nothing special. To many functions missing

I use the app more or less since 2014 and have tried a lot of apps in the meantime, because I miss quite a lot of functions. I was thinking a lot about if I should buy the app or not. I wish I hadn’t. Important functions like mark a task as ’not started yet’; ‚in progress‘ or ‚completed‘ are missing. Too bad :( As a student I don’t have much money and it was a waste. Hopefully they will integrate some more things but nothing useful has happend since years.

Very good

Very helpful app. Id been using a much simpler to-do app on my iPhone, but this is much more dynamic. Id like to see a thorough video tutorial for those less-computer literate folks like myself, particularly noting the differences between "projects" and "areas of responsibilty" etc. How about an emailed "tip-a-day" to help one get the most out of it. Im certain Im only using this app to 25% of its potential. Ive paired it with the app for the phone, and am getting used to using it. It will only sync when I have both the Mac program open and the app open on the iPhone. Would be nice to sync automatically with the itunes sync. Worth the money.

OK but not great

For much less money I think that Toodledo is much more complete and usefull. You can have Toodledo (with upgrade) for 5 years at the same cost as Things.

Great

I tried OmniFocus, then Things.. The GUI for things won me over. After the 14-day trial ended I had no idea what to do next and had to buy.. it eaisly becomes a must-have.

Best GTD software!

If you are searching for a simple and beautiful application to manage your life or even projects, this is probably what you are looking for. After trying many different software to manage my work, this one still is my favorite. It has a simple interface, it is really easy to learn and you dont have to spend the whole day to organize everything. Moreover, it is compatible with iCal and integrates directly in Apple Mail. Search no more, Things its the best GTD on the market. To learn how to get the most out of it, read Getting things done by David Allen!

Amazing app (iPhone version too!)

Things is an amazing app! Its changed my life. I recently got real busy with a change in career. "Things" were swirling around in my head and I couldnt find a good way to organize them. This is the perfect solution for me. I cannot wait till the cloud version comes out!!

Sync Will Make it Perfect

I have strayed from Things a few times but always end up coming back. Things strikes the right complexity balance for my life and it helps that it is gorgeous to look at. Only over-the-air sync is missing to make it perfect. Once Things can sync between the iPad, iPhone, and Desktop versions over the air, everything will be just right in the world.

Productivity

I own a small custom manufacturing company and have been looking for a simple and comprehensive program to help manage all the day to day "things" that I need help organising. Ive found Things very easy to use. I cant comment on syncing it with iCal as I havent done that but it does sync seamlessly with my iPod. The scheduling and recurring task functions are particularly useful for me. The program is more expensive than a lot of other "To Dos" but I think its worth the extra $s, very robust, no glitches or crashs. Looking forward to future enhancements to sync my laptop and iMac. Slightly Disappointed!

I have heard great things about this app and was looking forward to using it! I am disappointed with the initial use and experience! Yes simpilicity is good but I was hoping for more options and personalization with in the features. Some projects are complex and are beyond just a few notes. Only being able to sync via wifi is a big bummer and it would be extremely useful to be able to email from this app. I am not sold on the cost and if its worth it yet, I have been able to get alot of use out of much cheaper applications! I hope to see great improvement in updates to come! I will continue to use Things for now to justify the cost and hope it will surprise me and prove me wrong!!!

Good for large number of quick reminders

This may not be good for long drawn out projects with many twists and turns, but I found it very good in tracking large number of small items I come up through my day in office. Exactly what I was looking for.

Ho Hum

I want something simple - this is good. I want functionaltity - this is debatable. I have a few concerns but I want to highlight one. When I set a task I cant set a time or get a reminder via pop-up or sound or some way other than looking at the list. This is a big problem as I run dual monitors and I keep my mail, calendar and tasks off to one screen along with various windows I want open but not on my main monitor (Finder, Word, Excel, Acrobat, App Start, Putler and so on). I am way too busy to keep checking back with my GTD program to see whats coming up. This is an essential function. I was disappointed yet again that Apple chose to not create a proper tasking function with Lion. Each passing year and OS and nothing. It would be nice to see someone step in with something that covers all the basics and integrates with Mail, iCal and everything OS X. No fireworks, no dancing paper clips. I havent tried every GTD program but more than a few. At some point you have to think about the money for nothing. On another note, I had one incident requiring support and it took them three days to answer (weekdays) and they knew Things had bricked itself. I ended up going through Time Machine to get what I needed and fixed it myself.

Absolutely Perfect, but Pricey

I absolutely love this app, but with the price of $80 for Mac+iPhone+iPad, I couldnt bring myself to give it 5 stars. -sync is blazing fast and seamless, and I hear free cloud sync is in the works. -the interface is perfectly tuned for usability, both on the Mac and iOS. -features are exactly what I need, and no more, making Things one of a kind for me. It would be nice if it was able to send emails or make the iPhone beep for a reminder, but there are other apps for that I guess.

Syncs only via local network

- The need to sync via the local network instead of by the cloud is incredibly limiting. - There doesnt appear to be any way to create "filtering views" (think of smart playlist in i tunes) - Because high/med/low are just tags it means it doesnt understand they really are priorities when it comes to sorting, filteribg (e.g. show me all above medium), or in fact changing the priority. Seems minor, but can induce insanity. I found this app had potential but the lack of cloud sync and overly basic tag notions cause it to fall short.

Good for its simplicity

I started using Things as my first todo tracking application. It is very functional for organizing things and getting quick focus on your tasks. More recently I switched to OmniFocus because the complexity and quantity of the todos I have really requires "sequential projects" (nested todo items). So I am appreciating having the folders and contexts for creating taxonomies of tasks. However, OmniFocus does not have that plain cut and simple "today" group. Things is quicker to drag the stuff around to get focused. Im still getting into OmniFocus, but it does require more time to set up and maintain your stuff. But again, I really need the nested lists and groupings. I will continue to use Things for quick todos probably.

iCloud sync would be a must

iCloud sync is a must for this app. It is not cheap (provided that you have to pay separately for the desktop version and for the iOS versions) so at least, one could have expected to have the synch built-in!

Absolutely pathetic that they let this become abandonware

I had heard amazing things about Things and I checked it out. Was very impressed by the UI and so I purchased it, at considerable expense, in iPhone, iPad and Mac format. I still think the UI is amazing and if they ever deigned to release a free Cloud Sync feature, I would consider switching back, although at this point the trust is entirely lost. I now use Wunderlist which is completely free and does include Cloud Sync. The fact of the matter is that Things shows every sign of being vapourware/abandonware. Its absolutely deplorable that this company has taken an eternity in software years working on what must be a relatively simple feature (other companies have certainly had no problem implementing it!) CulturedCode has completely let down their loyal user base, and at this point it would be insane to purchase any of their products given their track record. Its unclear at this point whether they will ever release a new version. Not only has the company failed to deliver, they also are failing to be honest with their customers about when this feature will ever be released, if at all. When contacted about a release date, they simply respond, why not try the beta? Given that the beta has been in progress for a year now and, based on recenting Twittering, appears to still have some very major problems – why would anyone waste their time?
