iCing on the cake

Ive loved this program ever since I purchased it. I admit, the syncing was pretty bad. A cloud server is now used to sync and it becomes that much better. No more hassle between iPhone and my Macbook. Still very happy, and the program is better than ever. Keep up the good work!

Too little too late.

An expensive piece of software for all your  devices that was once worth it, but has fallen way behind. Apples own Reminders has iCloud integration for syncing, alarms, multitouch gesture support, drag and drop simplicity, Siri integration, and location based Reminders. Take the time to play with it and adapt it to the GTD methodology and it works brilliantly. Staying in the "Today" view and swiping between days makes it every bit as effective. Plus IT IS FREE! Things has next to none of these most requested features, and given their snail pace development, it will be years before they do. It took them 3 years to get a sync solution to their customers. Not what you expect from productivity software developers. In the process, they were evasive and rude to their customers. If expensive task management is what you think you need, OmniFocus has more bang for the buck. I rather spend time checking off my lists then creating them. Reminders does it all for me and will only get better. Things 2 has a pretty face, but is a pathetic version 2 update. Worth the money in the past, but not in 2012. Another critical feature in Reminders is the ability to share a list with your significant other or a group of colleagues via the iCloud web app. Your shared list is updated immediately (as long as they are iCloud members) and you can set email alerts anytime an item on the list is added, modified, or completed. Things does not support teamwork despite years of requests from users. Add the fact you can add tasks to Reminders on the Mac using natural language (like Fantastical) and it is hard to spend $50 on Things.

Great job; simple, useful, multi-device, and cloud enabled

Solid tool, although I am no expert. I appreciate the fact that is is stable, clean, useful, and easy to understand, on both Mac and iPhone.

ED

Fantastic app. Ive used it for a couple years and it syncs beautifully across all my devices. Gr8 job guys!

Two features set this apart

The Things Cloud sync is significantly better than how an competition implements their synchronization, set it once and it’s done, no need to open the app on a nother device to trigger a sync. Also the ability to set a due date for a task, then have it ‘remind’ a set number of days ahead allows you to keep a running tally of what you need to working on, great if you work with project deadlines. I’ve tried switching away from Things when something newer and prettier comes out, but I always come back.

Excellent APP

Got a new computer. installed the THINGS APP, logged into their cloud and viola! all my things are on my new computer & synced with iPhone. Customer Support is excellent. The few times I needed their help they responded within minutes. Highly recommend Things.

Definitely not worth it

Ugly design, awkward to use (no keyboard shortcuts, no right click), limited functionality - and *much* too expensive. Deleted it immediately after actually seeing how it works.

Just right...

I recently loaded this app onto my Mac, as well as the two corresponding “Things” apps onto my iPhone and iPad. Beautiful, simple and practical interfaces. Everything syncs perfectly. These are some of the finest apps in this category that I’ve yet encountered.

Often Not Responding

Sometimes it doesn’t show a badge and makes me believe I’ve done everything on my list when really the app is hanging. Please release a bug update for this!! It’s very annoying, especially since it’s a todo app.

Less Than Just a Pretty Face

The UI remains the one to beat but waiting for that to be married with other functionality, with no real indication that functionality will ever be provided, has finally convienced me to stop using (looking at it again with each minor upgrade) Things. Of course not everyone wants all the functionality available from serveral other apps but without at least some of those it would seem unncessary to use an app at all. I have pretty much settled on Guided Ways Tech 2do.

Tried a lot of others but keep coming back. Sync is great

Things is not the most complex app but it “just works” . Particularly the sync with the ios app which is basically bulletproof. It’s really well positioned to work as a “personal” to do app. Could there be improvements? Of course. I hope they add better list printing, timed reminders instead of just date, ability to attach files, etc. I’d love to see them add SOME of the capabilities of apps like Wunderlist . Bottom line is there is no perfect task app but there is no doubt that THINGS is a very high quality app with an excellent UI that is very stable, fast and works perfectly with the iOS version which is critical. The SIRI integration in the iOS app is great! If you only want a Mac app with no interest in iOS, you have a lot of choices but if you want something with great syncing, your choices are much more limited. Things is an excellent choice.

GTD incarnate

After years of using Things to operationalize David Allen’s Getting Things Done method/philosophy, I thank everyone at Cultured Code! Your ongoing dedication to *THE* GTD app for Mac has enabled my practice of GTD to evolve from from occasional to integral, from padawan to jedi, from mundane to near-spiritual. Cheers, Darren - physician in Canada.

if you think that they’ll update this with cool new features, you’d be wrong.

the UI is great.. but the support is nonexistent.

I have lost my money

Mac Os 10.10.5 I have THINGS on iPad, so I thought it would be good to have it on my Mac Pro, it works the first time you launch it, then crashes EVERY launch afterword. I have owned and worked with Mac for 15 years and know my way around, never have I bought an app that failed on this level, SAVE your money, trust this review, I am not bitter, Just concerned that others may have the same horrible, unsatisfactory experience.

Bad tech support

Don’t buy this app. There was a problem with the app and they were unable to fix it. I got the impression that I was bothering them. They told me about the hours they spent trying to fix my problem when I told them I would write a negative review. I also spent hours following their “fixes” to my problem with the app. Until then, I had really liked it.

Too Apple-centric

GTD is about keeping everything in one system. Things has really nailed it from the GTD workflow perspective, but it falls flat without supporting other platforms (or a web version at the very least). I love “Things”, but I don’t have an option to use a Mac at work. The lack of a Windows or web based solution renders it next to useless. Really sad, because from GTD workflow perspective I would happily choose it over any of the other options I’ve found.

One of those apps you’ll never stop using

You know it. We all have apps we download that seem intriguing at first, and we use for a while, but then just forget about using since it’s not really working out. I was really attached to the built-in reminders app on all my Apple devices simply because it was simple, supports location-based reminders, and integrates with Siri. However, the way I have my productivity setup now is that I use Things for all the serious things in my life such as school, and work, and then I use Reminders for all those small, simple personal things in my life. This app is so feature-rich, it’s going to keep you organized day-in, day-out. I love that it highlights all my overdue tasks as well as tell me how overdue they are so that when I start putting together the stuff I want to focus on TODAY, I can focus on knocking off all the oldest, most overdue items. This leads me to the today/focus feature this app has … it is by far my favourite feature. Sometimes, we just have so many overdue, due, and pending tasks that we may be overwhelmed. Easily, everyday my list of things I technically have to do that day can exceed 20 tasks. However, with the help of the today feature, I can “review” the least priority items on a later date and just focus on 5 or 10 items. It really helps my morale and sanity. Thanks guys so much for developing this software!! I do wish it was more affordable for the mac version though. Working on a bigger screen, and using a mouse helps enhance the experience of using this app greatly for sure.

bugs...

I cant use "tab" key to select "predicted words" while focusing on the note field. If I do, then focus moves to date field. Expected few bugs, I paid much for this App. I hope author will fix this problem.

It doesnt work with Things Cloud in China, you must know.

According to Cultured Code GmbH, it is unable to control in China. This App is not so cheap! I wish I wanted to know such a soft spot before I purchased this. Please do not give up to confront what is wrong!
