A real winner

Keeps my tasks ever before me. Allows me to pick whcih tasks I work on today and lists them cleanly and clearly. My first choice.

Does one thing extremely well

I’ve been using Things for 2 years now. It isn’t filled with bells and whistles, meaning that once you learn it and work it into your habits it’s very easy to stay organized and not get distracted “optimizing your productivity”. Every interaction you have with the app is intuitive and obvious. Things is extremely well designed. I’m lowering my rating because the lack of undo support is embarassing. The only option that can be undone is actually deleting a task (because you can move it out of the trash) but you cannot, for example, undo changing a tasks name / notes / due date; moving a task; or completing a task.

Should be a 5 start app

No jpeg attachments,...Wunderlist is killing you in this deptatment. The only thing keeping me away from Wunderlust is its under new ownership. try subscription based (again, Wunderlist playbook) for special features. New production additions annoucned way too far in advance….leaves users waiting for months. HYPE has a half-life of 15 seconds. I love this product but i am starting to look at other apps that support jpeg attachments but none are as beautiful as the UI of Things….then again Getting thigns done is about GETTING THINGS DONE,…not about beauty of UI. I wish Apple would put you out of your misery and just buy you and make it work as it should. Sorry guys,..i have been a long time supporter and customer but its almost time to move on…you are behind the times.

Has snycing problem

I really like using Things every day. I have only one problem that I run into when I do not use the app on the Mac for a long time. I usually use my iPhone to use Things and when I open the app on the Mac it will show for example 50 items past due. Problem then is it syncs the worng way. Instead of snycing where I am on the phone it goes the other way and shows the 50 items past due on my phone. Then I have to go through and clear out all those items. Wish this could get fixed. Still love the app and all the reoccuring options. Really helps me to get things done that I would otherwise forget or put off.

Do your research First…..

This is a very basic app. Its not like others in the sense of features. I wish I had done more research on others apps before getting this. Dont get me wrong its a good app. My problem lies with the fact that for 40$ it is totally not worth it. Its basically a little more than than par with Reminders…... seriously. It doesnt have any intuitive feature at all. If you are like me and buy it without research youll know what I am talking. All I am saying is do your research. Any other app in this field that charges the same or more is better I have learn. My overall opinion is that Things should’ve been included in the Lion update.

Pretty below average

I like some of the features, the ease of entering a to do item is great, the contexts aren’t cumbersome to create. The fundamental flaw to this program is the app doesn’t work with time based to do items (reminders). It will import your icoud reminders but wipe the time as they import. For anyone with real schedules and deadlines this app is fairly useless unless paired witha decent reminder app, but the point of having an app should be to simplify not clutter your workflow. This lack of functionality should be up front, listed above in the description before you purchase it, it is a great to do list and it boasts being able to handle a full GTD workflow, but that is pretty misleading when it can’t handle a simple reminder.

Things

I agree with other reviewers - I am having the same problem with syncing. For the cost of having this app on 3 devices - it should work like gold. It’s shameful that $70 later - I can’t get this to sync, even with support. The idea behind the app is good, but it’s effectiveness stinks.

Starting to crash a lot!

While I love using this software for tracking projects, it is starting to crash several times per day. I am running the newest OS on an iMac 5k that is maxed out. Can’t imagine what is causing this.

Awesome App

Great App… That Simple.

Great App

Use it all the time. Love the fact that its synced will all my devices. Keeps me organized.

Excellent task manager

I’ve tried just about every task manager out there. I eventually found myself just using the built in Apple Reminders. But Things is a great enhancement. I’ve actually found it best to use a combination of Apple’s Reminders and Things. 1. Things can read Apple’s reminders list. This allows you to take advantage of Siri and add things to an Apple Reminder inbox and have it show up in a Things Inbox. 2. Reminders allows you to set things that are time based, not just date based. As I thought about this feature, I found I mostly use this for small tasks due on a given day. For example, I don’t want to forget to get milk after work so I tell Siri to remind me to get milk at 5 PM. I continue to use Reminders for these little tasks. 3. Reminders does a nice job with shared lists. I keep a shared grocery list with my wife and one other for errands. 4. Beyond this, I turn to Things. Things let’s you create projects with multiple tasks. One of the keys to getting productive is breaking things down to small enough pieces that you can do that one task. i.e. You don’t “Paint a bedroom”. You have to: 1. measure the room 2. get samples to decide on a color or combination of colors 3. decide the type of paint and buy paint and supplies 4. Prep the room before painting 5. paint Most people don’t get things done because they don’t think of these steps up front and then knock them off one by one. I don’t have time to “Paint the room” but it’s easy to find 5 minutes to measure the room. 5. things sync service is rock solid. There was a comment they should use iCloud. Why? iCloud was not always as reliable as it is now and even now, still need to prove itself for data syncing. Things service is solid and fast. One other consideration is comparisons to a program like OmniFocus. Both are similar. OmniFocus is a bit more expensive but handles contexts differently. It’s more geared to showing a task when you are at the correct location. i.e. display tasks that are work related when you are at work. You can use tags in Things and just select the tag to get a similar result but it’s not quite as automatic. On the other hand, location based tasks tend to eat some more battery so you have to balance everything.
